European industry advances through automotive summits and digital rail coupling

The European automotive and rail sectors are advancing through digitalization and new technological standards. In Hungary, the TECHTOGETHER+ event, organized by autopro.hu and TriveroMedia in cooperation with the Hungarian Automobile Industry Association (MAGE), will take place on November 12. The program focuses on the transformation of the automotive industry, covering electrification, automation, and digital supply chains. It aims to address how Hungary can remain an attractive automotive manufacturing hub through innovation and B2B networking.

In the rail sector, Knorr-Bremse AG and ÖBB Rail Cargo Group have secured Europe’s first contract for Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC). Under the EU-funded PioDAC project, the technology will be implemented in regular freight operations starting in 2028. The system allows for digital data and energy transfer between wagons, which is expected to increase the competitiveness of rail freight by reducing coupling times and improving operational efficiency. The initial deployment will feature a train consisting of 23 wagons and one locomotive.
