European Logistics Firms Deploy Electric Trucks in Switzerland and Offer Rapid Diesel Retrofits

The Hoyer Group has placed four fully electric MAN e‑trucks into daily service in Switzerland, using an intelligent charging system that cuts energy consumption by about two‑thirds compared with diesel. The deployment is part of Hoyer’s broader decarbonisation strategy, which also includes CNG, LNG and fuel‑cell vehicles in Germany and a rollout of electric forklifts in Austria.

Janus Electric, a UK‑based company, retrofits diesel trucks to electric powertrains in roughly six days. Its process retains the original chassis, adds modular batteries with a swapping system that can replace a pack in under four minutes, and offers a range of up to 450 km. Costs are about one‑quarter of a new electric truck, and the firm is scaling production to 50 conversion kits per month while building a network of battery‑swapping stations.
