European logistics firms adopt electric trucks

In late July 2026, the Hoyer Group began operating four fully electric MAN e‑trucks on regular routes in Switzerland, integrating an intelligent charging system that aligns energy supply with daily schedules. The rollout was presented as part of Hoyer’s wider decarbonisation program, which already includes hydrogen, LNG, CNG, fuel‑cell trucks and electric forklifts in other European markets.

A few days later, the deployment was highlighted again, noting that the electric trucks cut energy use by roughly two‑thirds compared with diesel equivalents. The report also introduced Janus Electric, a UK‑based firm that converts diesel trucks to electric powertrains in about six days, using modular batteries and a rapid‑swap system. Janus claims conversion costs are around one‑quarter of a new electric truck and is scaling production of conversion kits while building a network of battery‑swapping stations, expanding the options for European logistics firms seeking quicker, lower‑cost electrification.
