European motorcycle sales surge 16.8% in first half of 2026

In the first six months of 2026, registrations of new motorcycles across Europe reached 636,490 units, a 16.8% increase over the same period in 2025. The five largest markets – Germany, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and France – all posted growth. Germany led with a 27.6% rise to 114,849 registrations, followed by Spain (23.6%), Italy (13.2%), the United Kingdom (15.8%) and France (6.4%). Italy remained the biggest market with 220,776 new motorcycles.

Moped registrations on six monitored markets (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain) totaled 72,076, up 4.7% year‑on‑year. The strongest gains were in Italy (+18.2%), Germany (+9.3%) and Spain (+9.1%). Belgium and France also rose, while the Netherlands recorded a 5.4% decline. ACEM, the European motorcycle manufacturers association, attributed the resilience to sustained demand and regulatory alignment. Its secretary‑general Antonio Perlot highlighted the "positive momentum" of the market and noted a similar upward trend in Serbia’s motorcycle sales.
