European nations pursue Israel’s David’s Sling missile defense

Several European nations are pursuing Israeli David’s Sling missile defense technology to bolster their air defense capabilities.

Estonia is considering the system as part of a broader €1 billion plan to strengthen defenses against potential Russian missile attacks. The Estonian Center for Defense Investment is evaluating several options, including the U.S. Patriot and the French-Italian SAMP/T systems. Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur noted that the availability of U.S.-made systems may be constrained due to high demand from Ukrainian forces.

Greece has announced a €3.1 billion investment in Israeli air defense technology, including the David’s Sling system, as part of its Achilles Shield program. This follows a previous $740 million deal for rocket artillery systems. Additionally, Finland is expected to deploy David’s Sling by 2027, contributing to the integration of Israeli defense technology within NATO’s northern and southern flanks.
