European adoption of Israeli missile defense technology
Overview
Several European nations are seeking to integrate Israeli David’s Sling missile defense technology into their national security frameworks. Estonia is evaluating the system as part of a €1 billion defense strengthening plan, noting that U.S.-made alternatives may face availability constraints due to demand from Ukraine. Finland is also expected to deploy the system by 2027 to support NATO integration.
Greece has committed €3.1 billion to its Achilles Shield program, which includes the David’s Sling system. Following this agreement, retired Greek Rear Admiral Yiannis Egolfopoulos stated that the system’s operational capabilities could extend into central Turkey. He specified that the David’s Sling would function in a ‘blue zone’ capable of intercepting ballistic missiles at a range of up to 250 km.
