European Network Romania Cultural launches digital hub for diaspora media
The Asociația Opera Scrisă. RO has launched the ‘European Network Romania Cultural’, a digital hub designed to connect Romanian-language cultural media outlets across the European diaspora. The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Western Branch – Diaspora and Minorities of the Union of Professional Journalists in Romania and is funded by the Department for Romanians Abroad.
The initiative aims to support media entities in countries such as Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and Belgium. While Romanian-language publications are numerous due to the large diaspora, they often operate in isolation and face challenges regarding cybersecurity and copyright protection.
The network will unite twelve media units, including eleven from the diaspora and Agenția de Carte.ro, which serves as a link to Romania. While each publication maintains its own identity, the project provides them with a European showcase, improved hosting, and a professional copyright framework administered by Opera Scrisă. RO. The project will run from August 1 to October 31, 2026, with physical presentations scheduled in several Spanish cities, including Oviedo and Santander, between September 30 and October 5, 2026.
