European Parliament approves new passenger rights for cabin baggage
The European Parliament has approved new rules aimed at upgrading passenger rights regarding cabin baggage. Under the new regulations, passengers have the right to carry one personal item, such as a small bag or backpack, on board an aircraft at no additional cost.
To enhance price transparency, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have mandated that airlines, intermediaries, and search portals must display airfares inclusive of carry-on luggage from the beginning of the booking process. While airlines are permitted to offer lower-priced tickets for passengers who choose to travel without hand luggage, the rules aim to prevent confusion caused by basic economy fares that often include only minimal items.
