European Parliament warns of humanitarian crisis in Ukraine

The European Parliament has addressed the escalating humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, with MEPs warning that Russia is using starvation as a weapon of war. During a plenary session in Strasbourg, lawmakers reported that Russian forces are refusing to establish humanitarian corridors in occupied territories, leaving thousands of civilians, including children, trapped in areas such as Olešnik.

Representatives noted that the humanitarian situation is approaching a tipping point. Reports indicate that in Ukraine, the death rate is currently exceeding the birth rate, and the population is aging significantly. MEPs have called for continued European Union support for Kyiv and urged the Commission to implement more effective sanctions, specifically targeting Russian oil, to combat the ongoing aggression.
