European People's Party pledges support for Ceuta and Melilla

Dolors Montserrat, Secretary General of the European People's Party (EPP) and Vice President of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, has reaffirmed that Ceuta and Melilla are part of Spain and Europe. During a visit to Melilla, Montserrat emphasized that the EPP is prioritizing the defense of these autonomous cities.

She highlighted a budget amendment promoted by the Spanish and European People's Parties, which allocates 80 million euros to strengthen border security. These funds are intended for the implementation of innovative technological means and the construction of maritime and land barriers to improve protection at the borders.

Additionally, Czech MEP Nikola Bartusek, who previously alerted the European Commission regarding the situation in Ceuta, noted that migration has been used as a tool of pressure against Europe. Bartusek has advocated for increased support from Frontex to assist in managing the border situation.
