European producer prices show modest increase in June 2026
In June 2026, Germany's producer price index rose 1.8% year‑on‑year, driven mainly by higher costs for intermediate goods such as metals (+5.1%) and energy (+0.4%). Prices for pork fell sharply by 21.8%, while consumer goods became cheaper. Energy prices rose modestly, and some utility costs, like electricity, fell 4.2% compared with June 2025.
Hungary reported a 0.4% decline in overall industrial producer prices for the same month. Domestic output prices increased 1.8%, led by manufacturing (+1.1%) and the energy sector (+2.3%). Non‑domestic output prices fell 1.4%, with a 3.3% drop in manufacturing but a 17.9% rise in the energy industry due to international market trends. Over the January‑June half‑year, Hungary’s domestic output prices were 0.2% higher while non‑domestic prices were 1.4% lower, resulting in a 0.9% net decrease in industrial producer prices.
