European railway companies advance infrastructure and rolling stock projects

Several European railway companies and authorities are advancing infrastructure and rolling stock developments. In Romania, the Railway Reform Authority (ARF) has selected Siemens Mobility as the winner of a tender for 23 new electric locomotives. The project, valued at approximately 154 million euros, includes maintenance and repair services, with funding provided largely by the EU Modernization Fund and the Romanian state budget.

In Poland, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) has completed a modernization project at the Nakło nad Notecią station. The project involved constructing a new 75-meter underground passage equipped with lifts to improve accessibility and connect the station to the city. Additionally, the infrastructure company Trakcja has acquired a PRM-400 work train from ZPS Sp. z o.o. to enhance the efficiency of electrification and maintenance work on contact networks.

Furthermore, the Dutch company NITEQ has introduced the RRM-3000, a new rail-road vehicle designed for shunting and towing operations in depots. The vehicle can tow up to 500 tons and offers both manual and remote-control operation modes to optimize rolling stock management.
