European railway infrastructure modernization

Overview

European railway developments are progressing through various procurement and construction initiatives. In Romania, the Railway Reform Authority (ARF) has awarded a 154 million euro tender to Siemens Mobility for 23 new electric locomotives, supported by the EU Modernization Fund. Additionally, strategic electrification projects are underway, including the Bucharest-Giurgiu line, which involves constructing a new viaduct at Daia, and the Dărmănești–Vicșani section, a €57.6 million project aimed at improving connectivity between Romania and Ukraine.

In Poland, modernization efforts include the completion of accessibility upgrades at the Nakło nad Notecią station and the acquisition of a new work train by Trakcja to improve electrification maintenance. Meanwhile, the Dutch company NITEQ has introduced new shunting and towing technology for depot operations.
