European Researchers' Night promotes science across multiple regions
The European Researchers' Night, a pan-European initiative, has taken place across numerous cities, bringing scientific research and innovation directly to the public through interactive activities.
In Croatia, events were held in Zadar and Split, featuring astronomical observations of the Sun, Moon, and Saturn, alongside robotics and technology demonstrations. In Serbia, the event saw over 110,000 participants across various cities, including Leskovac and Vranje, focusing on making science accessible to youth through experiments and workshops.
In Spain, cities like Granada, Tarragona, and San Fernando hosted hundreds of researchers and hundreds of activities, ranging from marine biology and 'Aqualab' water-themed projects to physics and archaeology. Similarly, in Italy, cities such as Bari, Cosenza, and Frascati engaged citizens with topics including health prevention, digital innovation, and forensic science.
Other regional activities included scientific workshops in Portugal (Évora and Portalegre), astronomy and technology showcases in North Macedonia (Skopje), and discussions on geothermal energy in Hungary (Békéscsaba). The overarching goal of these simultaneous events is to bridge the gap between the academic community and the general public, fostering curiosity and inspiring future generations of scientists.
