European ski pass prices to rise by average 3.4 percent

Ski resort operators in Europe are adjusting prices for the upcoming 2026/2027 season. An analysis of 36 popular ski areas shows an average increase of 3.4 percent for a 6-day pass, bringing the average cost to €388. This represents the smallest price jump in recent years. Geographically, price hikes vary significantly: Germany saw the highest average increase at 5.0 percent, followed by Austria at 4.4 percent, Italy at 3.2 percent, and France at 2.6 percent. Switzerland recorded the lowest increase at 0.5 percent.

In Austria, specifically in Carinthia, cable car companies reported a successful summer season, with 86 percent of businesses seeing growth. This summer success is attributed to longer periods of warm weather, which has increased the importance of summer tourism for the industry. However, rising costs for energy, wages, and investments are impacting winter pricing. In some Austrian ski areas, daily lift tickets are expected to exceed the €70 mark for the first time, with prices reaching up to €73 in locations such as Nassfeld and Bad Kleinkirchheim.
