European smartphone market posts modest Q1 growth as HONOR logs double‑digit gains worldwide
In the first quarter of 2026, shipments of smartphones to Europe (excluding Russia) rose 2% year‑on‑year to 33 million units, according to Omdia. Samsung and Apple continued to dominate the market, and average selling prices reached record highs, strengthening the premium‑segment revenue while mid‑range and low‑end volumes lagged.
Chinese brand HONOR announced a 25% global increase in shipments, with especially strong regional performance: 73% growth in the Middle East, a 101% surge across Africa, over 60% expansion in Europe despite the continent’s modest overall rise, 28% growth in Southeast Asia, and 30% in Latin America. The company highlighted the success of its 600 series and X9 series and previewed the upcoming HONOR Magic V6, signaling a continued shift in market dynamics toward its offerings.
