European survey finds 82% support AI role in health care
A STADA Health Report 2026 surveyed 20 European countries, revealing that 82 % of respondents are willing to let artificial intelligence play a role in their health care, while 55 % already use AI‑based tools for personal health monitoring. Only 56 % are satisfied with their national health systems, and the biggest challenges cited are staff shortages (67 %) and long waiting lists. Forty‑three percent say affordable access is a key concern, and 58 % would prioritize expanding health‑worker availability if they were health ministers.
Self‑care is high – 78 % feel prepared to manage their own health, 94 % treat at least some issues themselves, and 85 % use devices such as fitness trackers. Trust in human professionals remains strong: 77 % still rely on their general practitioner for medical decisions, and about eight in ten prefer face‑to‑face visits. Nevertheless, 38 % worry about reduced human interaction, while many see AI as useful for administrative tasks like appointment scheduling (50 %) and note‑taking (36 %).
