European T20 Premier League aims to boost Associate cricket

Faf du Plessis and Jonty Rhodes have expressed support for the upcoming European T20 Premier League (ETPL), stating the tournament will provide a vital platform for players from Associate nations to gain exposure. Du Plessis, who will serve as co-owner and captain of the Rotterdam Dockers, believes that providing equal opportunities to emerging teams like Scotland and Ireland will strengthen global cricket in the long term.

The inaugural ETPL season is scheduled to begin on August 26. Du Plessis noted that the tournament features a high-quality lineup of international talent, including players such as Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh, Tim David, and Heinrich Klaasen, alongside top European talent. He suggested that the league could significantly accelerate the growth of cricket across Europe over the next decade.
