European Union advances 800 billion euro defense strategy

The European Union is moving forward with the ‘ReArm Europe’ strategic initiative, a defense commitment valued at 800 billion euros intended for completion by 2030. Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, is a central figure in this movement. She is expected to present the 22nd round of sanctions against Russia in September.

Recent security tensions in Europe include the downing of a drone in Latvia, which was identified as a Ukrainian drone that had been unintentionally diverted, and the downing of another drone in Romania that NATO command described as appearing to be Russian. These incidents occur amid ongoing debates regarding potential Russian aggression toward NATO members.
