Overview

Germany’s defence investment boom continued through 2026. After reporting a 12.3 % jump in 2025, the government enlarged the special defence fund by €100 billion and lifted the core budget from €62.4 billion in 2025 to €82.7 billion in 2026, with a cumulative target of €152 billion by 2029. The plan adds about 4 billion DKK to the defence fund in 2026, a further 21 billion DKK in 2027, and commits an extra 260 billion DKK for defence between 2026 and 2033.
