AI investment gap widens between US and Europe

Global trends in artificial intelligence adoption reveal a significant investment gap between the United States and Europe. US private AI investment reached 285.9 billion dollars in 2025, while European investment stood at 20.9 billion dollars. European companies primarily fund AI through internal resources, whereas US firms utilize massive debt markets to fuel expansion.

In the industrial sector, 82% of companies view AI as critical for future competitiveness, yet 42% report lacking the necessary skills for effective integration. To address this, Siemens has announced plans to invest over 1 billion euros in industrial AI over the next three years, focusing on precision engineering to avoid the 'hallucinations' common in consumer-grade models.

In Italy, AI is increasingly used for information gathering, with 43% of the population using it to compare products. However, trust remains low; 75% of Italians still prefer human financial advisors for investment decisions. Meanwhile, in the education sector, 89% of Italian students aged 9 to 16 have experimented with generative AI, reflecting a rapid adoption rate among younger demographics.
