European Union beer trade shows net export balance in 2025
In 2025, the European Union maintained a net export position for alcoholic beer, despite an 11% decrease in total exports to 3.2 billion liters compared to 2024. Imports rose by 6%, totaling 500 million liters.
Belgium led EU beer exports with 1.5 billion liters, followed by the Netherlands with 1.4 billion liters and Germany with 1.3 billion liters. Other significant exporters included the Czech Republic and Ireland, both exporting 600 million liters. France emerged as the largest importer of beer in the EU, bringing in 900 million liters, followed by Italy with 700 million liters.
Croatia maintained a balanced trade status in the sector, with exports and imports both totaling nearly 97 million liters of alcoholic beer. In contrast, Slovenia was a net importer, bringing in 47 million liters.
