European Parliament proposes budget increase for Erasmus+ program
The European Parliament has proposed increasing the Erasmus+ budget to 47.39 billion euros, surpassing the European Commission's initial proposal of 40.8 billion euros. The goal is to enhance inclusivity and expand access to international education, training, and mobility opportunities.
Key proposals include adjusting financial support to account for regional differences in inflation, housing costs, and living expenses. Parliament aims to ensure that at least 20 percent of participants come from groups with limited access to such opportunities. Additionally, the proposal suggests extending mobility opportunities to amateur athletes and merging Erasmus+ with the European Solidarity Corps to consolidate youth development initiatives.
