European Union condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

The European Union has strongly condemned attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia, targeting civilian and economic infrastructure. Anouar el Anouni, spokesperson for the European Commission's External Relations, stated that the attacks represent a “dangerous escalation” that violates international law and undermines regional stability.

The attacks, which targeted cities including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, reportedly resulted in 73 injuries. The EU expressed solidarity with Riyadh and called on the Houthis to cease all attacks, including those against vessels in the Red Sea, and to comply with United Nations Security Council resolutions 2722 and 2826.

Maintaining peace and stability in Yemen is considered vital for the security of the Gulf and the Red Sea. The EU reaffirmed its commitment to working with the UN and international partners to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
