European Union ties Ukraine financial aid to continued reforms

The European Union has stated that Ukraine must continue to implement and enforce relevant reforms to remain eligible for additional financial payments.

European Commission spokesperson Balazs Ujvari emphasized that the timely implementation of mutually agreed-upon policy conditions is essential for the Commission to proceed with payments under the macro-financial assistance program and the Ukraine Facility. While the EU acknowledges the significant reform efforts Ukraine has made under extremely difficult circumstances over the past four years, officials stressed the importance of maintaining this momentum.

This requirement follows discussions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
