European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a humanitarian aid package of nearly 710 million euros to support populations affected by conflicts, natural disasters, and extreme weather. The announcement was made during the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

Approximately 380 million euros are earmarked for migration-related measures, focusing on the protection of vulnerable migrants, voluntary return, and reintegration. Additionally, 97 million euros will address humanitarian needs caused by conflict, food insecurity, and climate shocks in the region.

The package also includes 252 million euros for emergency support. This includes 103 million euros for the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, 52 million euros for Ukraine to assist with winter preparedness, and specific allocations for the Democratic Republic of the Congo to combat the Ebola outbreak and promote stability in the Great Lakes region.
