European Waste Reduction Week 2026 initiatives in France

As part of the 2026 European Week for Waste Reduction (SERD), several regions in France are organizing events to promote environmental awareness and sustainable consumption.

In Capestang, the Max Derruau Media Library will host an exhibition throughout November focused on the lifecycle of denim. The exhibit covers everything from cotton cultivation and manufacturing to transport and end-of-life disposal. To encourage responsible consumption, the library will host workshops on zero-waste household products, making ecological sponges, sewing and repurposing, and creating Christmas decorations from recycled materials.

In Miribel, the CCMP is participating in the SERD from November 21 to 29. The program includes clothing swaps, sewing machine initiations, and workshops on reducing food waste and making homemade beauty products. Other activities include an exhibition titled ‘Le revers de mon look’ regarding the environmental impact of clothing and footwear, as well as children's games made from reclaimed textiles.
