European circular economy and waste reduction initiatives

Overview

In late 2026, various European organizations launched initiatives focused on sustainability, resource efficiency, and waste reduction.

In Germany, the Museum Mensch und Natur in Munich scheduled a project week for European Sustainability Week, featuring the exhibition ‘Jetzt geht es rund – Kreisläufe statt Abfälle’ and educational workshops utilizing the MINTFLIX_OS digital platform. Additionally, Circular Week 2026 was organized to connect municipalities, businesses, and research institutions through activities such as online conferences and excursions to the :metabolon innovation site.

In France, regional activities were organized as part of the European Week for Waste Reduction (SERD). In Capestang, the Max Derruau Media Library hosted an exhibition on the lifecycle of denim alongside workshops for creating zero-waste household products and repurposing materials. In Miribel, the CCMP participated in the SERD with programs including clothing swaps, food waste reduction workshops, and exhibitions regarding the environmental impact of clothing and footwear.
