At the Envisioning 2035 – Wine Revolution event in Milan, enologist Federico Giotto outlined a new approach for Italian winemaking, stressing the distinction between terroir – the immutable geological and cultural elements of a vineyard – and style, which evolves with market trends. Giotto warned that conflating the two has led to positioning errors, and he advocated for a careful shift toward lighter, lower‑alcohol wines that retain substance rather than diluting quality.

Separately, a scored listing of the best Tavel AOC rosé wines highlighted the region’s ongoing transition toward lighter colour and less extraction, while still preserving the traditional Grenache‑based profile. Judges emphasized balance, noting that the most compelling wines maintain fruit depth, acidity, salinity and a firm tannic lift, avoiding over‑lightness that can strip the wine of its historic character.
