Eurozone manufacturing prices jump 4.9% in April, fastest since March 2023

Eurostat reported that the industrial producer price index (PPI) for the Eurozone rose 4.9% year‑on‑year in April, the strongest increase since March 2023. On a monthly basis, prices were up 0.6% in the Eurozone and 0.7% across the EU. Energy prices surged 12.3% year‑on‑year, while intermediate goods rose 3.9%, capital goods 2.1% and durable consumer goods 2.7%; prices for non‑durable consumer goods fell 0.2%.

The largest annual increases were recorded in Bulgaria (14.5%), Lithuania (13.1%) and Romania (11.5%). On the monthly scale, Denmark posted the biggest rise at 3%, followed by Croatia (2.7%) and Belgium (2.4%). Monthly declines were seen in France (‑2.1%), Estonia (‑0.8%) and Sweden (‑0.3%).
