Eurozone June industrial PMI slips to 51.4 as unemployment reaches record low

The Eurozone's manufacturing PMI fell slightly in June to 51.4, down from 51.6 in May but still above the 50‑point growth threshold. The index indicated modestly higher demand and production, longer lead times and reduced cost pressures, while business outlook rose to a four‑month high. In the same period, Eurostat reported that the unemployment rate in the 21‑member monetary bloc held at a record‑low 6.2% in May.

German machinery and equipment makers saw a 1% year‑on‑year decline in total orders, with domestic orders falling 3% and foreign orders rising 1%. Orders from Euro‑area partners were down 21% while those from non‑Euro nations grew 11%. Further PMI data for services and non‑manufacturing sectors are scheduled for early July across France, Italy, Germany and the broader Eurozone, alongside industrial‑production forecasts such as a 0.4% drop for France.
