Eusider seeks to join Italian consortium for ex Ilva acquisition

The steel group Eusider has formally expressed interest in joining an Italian consortium led by Federacciai to acquire the former Ilva steel plants. Eusider, a major steel processor founded by the Anghileri family with annual revenues exceeding one billion euros, submitted its interest to the presidents of Federacciai and Confindustria.

Maria Anghileri, COO of Eusider, stated that the project is a strategic asset for the entire Italian manufacturing system and is vital for securing thousands of jobs in Taranto. The consortium currently includes 14 companies, such as Acciaieria Arvedi, Marcegaglia Carbon Steel, and Feralpi Siderurgica.

This move follows previous attempts by Eusider to participate in the sale of Ilva assets in 2024 and 2025. Prime Minister Meloni has indicated that the working group for the former Ilva is expected to reconvene in early September.
