Eutelsat receives first 32 OneWeb satellites from Airbus
Airbus Defence and Space has completed the production of the first 32 new OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites for Eutelsat at its facility in Toulouse, France. These satellites are currently being prepared for shipment ahead of an upcoming launch with SpaceX.
This delivery marks a significant milestone in Eutelsat’s broader programme to renew and enhance its OneWeb constellation, which aims to deploy a total of 669 new satellites. The new spacecraft are intended to replace older units reaching the end of their operational lives, ensuring service continuity and enhanced network capabilities for businesses, governments, and institutions globally.
Eutelsat CEO Jean-François Fallacher noted that the achievement demonstrates Europe’s ability to build and sustain global LEO capabilities and serves as a symbol of industrial relocalisation.
