EV battery studies show high durability after 100,000 km

A new analysis of nearly 10,000 batteries conducted by the independent diagnostic system AVILOO suggests that electric vehicle (EV) battery degradation is significantly lower than common myths suggest after 100,000 km. The study indicates that most modern batteries retain high capacity; for instance, the top 20 vehicles analyzed all maintained over 90% capacity after exceeding the 100,000 km mark.

Hyundai Motor Group leads the rankings, with the Kia e-Niro retaining 97.25% capacity and the Hyundai Kona retaining 97.18%. Other high-performing models include the Kia EV6, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and Polestar 2. The data shows that both Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) batteries demonstrate strong long-term resistance.

In a separate development regarding EV adoption and technology, Volvo has launched the EX60, a mid-to-large SUV designed to address range anxiety. The vehicle offers a declared range of up to 810 kilometers. This launch comes as the Italian EV market shows fluctuations, with battery electric vehicles capturing 5.9% of the market in July, following a peak in June.
