EV manufacturers expand presence across Australia and Southeast Asia

The electric vehicle (EV) industry is seeing significant shifts in the Asia-Pacific region through market expansion and ecosystem development. In Australia, Chinese automotive manufacturers, particularly those focusing on new energy vehicles (NEV), are experiencing rapid growth. Tony Weber, CEO of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), noted that Chinese brands are gaining consumer trust by expanding dealer networks and providing necessary after-sales services. In February, China became Australia's largest supplier of new vehicles for a single month.

Simultaneously, Vietnamese manufacturer VinFast is expanding its manufacturing footprint and mobility ecosystem across Southeast Asia, including India and Indonesia. In Indonesia, VinFast's assembly facility in Subang, West Java, is creating local employment opportunities and integrating into the regional economic chain. Beyond manufacturing, the company is developing a mobility ecosystem through Green SM, an EV-based transportation service, which supports drivers, technicians, and logistics providers.
