VinFast expands EV lineup and accelerates global expansion
Overview
By late 2026, VinFast has demonstrated significant growth in domestic and international markets. In the Philippines, the VF 3 mini electric SUV became the best-selling battery-electric vehicle from January to August 2026, with 2,906 units sold. To support this, VinFast Philippines is expanding its dealership network and charging infrastructure, utilizing incentives such as battery subscription policies and free charging through March 2029. Vingroup also plans to invest $500 million in a Philippine production complex, expected to break ground in early 2027.
In Vietnam, VinFast continues to diversify its lineup. The company launched the VF MPV 7, a seven-seater electric vehicle featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen and voice assistant, offering price reductions and free charging via the V-Green network. The VF 3 remains a popular urban choice due to its compact design and various color options. Additionally, the company is promoting the VF 2, its most affordable model, through the “For a Green Future” program and a “0 VND Car Purchase” financing option available until the end of 2026.
Despite these expansions, CEO Pham Nhat Quan Anh addressed a recent restructuring that included the sale of two major Vietnamese factories and the transfer of $7 billion in debt to investors. In the second quarter of 2026, VinFast sold 70,085 vehicles, reaching approximately 43% of its 300,000-unit annual target. While 89% of Q2 sales occurred in Vietnam, the company is targeting the Philippines, Indonesia, India, and potentially the Americas and Europe for future growth.
