EV market competition: Kia challenges Chevy on price as Buick launches affordable sedan in China

The electric vehicle market is seeing shifts in affordability and regional availability. In North America, the 2027 Kia EV3 has emerged as a competitive option for long-range, budget-friendly EVs. While the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox EV starts at $34,995 with up to 319 miles of range, the Kia EV3 Wind FWD offers a similar range of 321 miles with a lower starting price of $34,990. The 2027 Equinox EV also features a native NACS port for Tesla Supercharger compatibility.

Meanwhile, General Motors has launched the Buick Electra L7 sedan in China. Priced at approximately $25,000, the L7 features an 80.6-kWh LFP battery from CATL and claims a range of 436 miles under the Chinese CLTC cycle. The vehicle includes 6C fast-charging technology, capable of adding 280 miles of range in 10 minutes, and supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities. Despite its advanced features and lower price point, this model remains unavailable to the North American market.
