EV Sales Boom in Slovenia and the Czech Republic
In Slovenia, electric‑vehicle registrations rose sharply in the first half of 2026, reaching 35,000 new cars – a 17 % increase over the same period a year earlier. June was the strongest month with 6,700 units sold, driven by a surge in Tesla models and a growing share of Chinese brands.
Across the border, the Czech market recorded its strongest month for EV sales, setting a new record for new registrations. Local analysts note that the rapid rise mirrors trends in other Central European markets, with heightened consumer interest and increasing availability of imported used electric cars.
Both markets highlight the accelerating adoption of electric mobility in the region, underscoring the shifting competitive dynamics among traditional manufacturers, newer entrants, and Chinese automakers.
