Evonik to invest 150 million CAD in Vancouver drug manufacturing facility
Evonik is investing over 150 million CAD (approximately 93 million EUR) to establish a new Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility in Vancouver, Canada. The facility will focus on lipid-based drug delivery, supporting the production of vaccines, therapeutics, and other advanced medicines.
The project aims to more than triple Evonik’s existing manufacturing capacity for advanced pharmaceutical products. Additionally, the new site will enhance quality control and microbiological testing capabilities to improve product release efficiency for clinical use.
The investment is supported by the Canadian federal government’s Strategic Response Fund, which will provide up to 68 million CAD (approximately 42 million EUR). Drug product production at the new facility is scheduled to commence by the end of 2029.
