Evonik investment in Vancouver pharmaceutical facility

Overview

Evonik has announced an investment of over 150 million CAD (approximately 93 million EUR) to establish a new Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility in Vancouver, Canada. The project is designed to expand the company’s development and production capacities for lipid-based drug delivery, specifically to support the production of vaccines, therapeutics, and other advanced medicines.

The new facility is expected to more than triple Evonik’s existing manufacturing capacity for advanced pharmaceutical products while enhancing quality control and microbiological testing capabilities to improve product release efficiency for clinical use. The Canadian federal government is supporting the initiative through the Strategic Response Fund, providing up to 68 million CAD (approximately 42 million EUR). Drug production at the site is scheduled to commence by the end of 2029.
