Evri trials robotic neighbourhood parcel hub in Bristol

Evri has launched a one-week trial of a robotic neighbourhood parcel hub in the Paintworks pedestrianised community in Bristol. Developed in partnership with Collective Robotics, the automated facility is designed to support last-mile delivery by allowing couriers to unload an entire round of local parcels in a single stop, potentially saving time and fuel.

Unlike traditional parcel lockers or ParcelShops that require manual placement, this system uses AI and robotics to automatically identify, sort, and store multiple parcels without manual handling. The intelligent software is designed to dynamically manage storage space and adapt to changing parcel volumes.

Evri stated that the hubs are intended to complement, rather than replace, its existing network of home deliveries, lockers, and ParcelShops. The trial aims to assess how locating parcels closer to residential areas can provide customers with greater flexibility and control over their deliveries. Paintworks was selected due to its clean air zone and its suitability as a representative model for modern residential developments.
