EWII warns of fraudulent SMS phishing scam in Denmark

The Danish energy company EWII has issued a warning regarding a widespread SMS phishing scam targeting electricity consumers across Denmark, from Jutland to Bornholm. Scammers are impersonating the company by sending messages that claim there is an unpaid invoice and threatening to disconnect the recipient's power if payment is not made immediately.

The fraudulent messages contain links to a fake website that mimics EWII’s official branding, including its colors and logo, to appear legitimate. Casper Brejnbjerg Olsen, EWII’s director of subscription sales and customer service, has urged consumers to delete the messages immediately without clicking any links or entering payment information.

EWII advises customers to remain critical of any digital communications demanding urgent payment. If consumers are uncertain about the validity of an invoice, they are encouraged to visit the official EWII website directly or contact their customer service department via official channels.
