Ex Ilva steel plant faces October 28 deadline for hot area closure

Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, has provided an update on the future of the ex Ilva steel plant in Taranto. According to a court decision, the plant’s ‘hot area,’ including the blast furnaces, is scheduled to close by October 28.

Regarding the industrial future of the site, Urso confirmed there are currently two binding offers on the table. One of these is from Jindal, which has updated its proposal following a decision by the Court of Appeal. Additionally, there are two expressions of interest; one comes from Federacciaio, representing 14 primary Italian companies, which are currently evaluating whether to convert their interest into a binding offer.
