Greece implements Metro service changes and seasonal time shifts
Greece is implementing several logistical and policy changes across various sectors. In Athens, Metro Line 3 will experience significant service disruptions due to track replacement works in the Ampelokipoi – Chalandri section. Between October 11 and October 22, 2026, six stations—Panormou, Katehaki, Ethniki Amyna, Chalandri, Nomismatokopeio, and Agia Paraskevi—will close early at 21:40. A temporary bus line X20 will assist passengers.
Nationwide, the transition to winter time is scheduled for October 25, 2026, when clocks will be set back one hour at 04:00 to 03:00, following European regulations to conserve energy.
In regional areas, traffic adjustments are set for the Agrinio, Amfilochia, and Vonitsa regions through late 2027 for LED lighting installations. Additionally, road closures are planned in Aliveri for a seaside run event, and in the Tempi Valley for maintenance work on rock protection measures.
On a political level, Athens is participating in an EU Summit to advocate for increased financial support for households and businesses facing high energy costs, seeking exemptions from public spending limits due to rising VAT revenues.
