Exequiel Palacios joins Ipswich Town from Bayer Leverkusen

Argentine midfielder Exequiel Palacios has officially joined Premier League newcomer Ipswich Town from Bayer Leverkusen. The transfer, valued between 23 million and 27 million euros, marks the end of a six-and-a-half-year tenure for the 27-year-old in Germany.

Palacios, a 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina, was a key part of the Leverkusen squad that achieved an undefeated Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso in the 2023/24 season. Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, praised the midfielder's quality and character, noting that the move fulfills the player's desire to compete in English football.

The signing is part of an ambitious recruitment drive by Ipswich Town, which has spent approximately 180 million euros on thirteen new players this transfer window. Palacios has signed a contract that runs until mid-2030.
