Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes praised the midfielder’s quality and character, noting the move fulfills Palacios’s desire to compete in English football.

The transfer is part of an ambitious recruitment drive by Ipswich Town, which has spent approximately €180 million on thirteen new players during this transfer window. Additionally, the move provides a financial boost to his former club, River Plate; due to FIFA solidarity mechanisms and a sell-on clause, River Plate is expected to receive between €1.3 million and €2.7 million.
