Explosion and fire in Timisoara apartment building injure three, 43 people evacuated

A strong explosion followed by a fire broke out in an apartment on Versului Street in Timisoara at about 05:50. The blast occurred in a ground‑floor flat of a four‑storey block.

Firefighters, the local emergency‑situations inspectorate and a CBRN team were mobilised. The response evacuated 43 residents and rescued three adult victims who suffered injuries but remained conscious. No deaths were reported.

The natural‑gas supply to the building was shut off, and tests by the CBRN team and the gas company found no leak or abnormal readings. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the explosion.
