Ocotepec explosion kills one, injures three; trailer brake failure on Mexico‑Toluca highway leaves five injured
An explosion ripped through a pirotecnia workshop in the community of Ocotepec, Morelos, on 29 July 2026. The blast destroyed the building, killed a woman and injured two other people. Emergency services, including civil protection, firefighters, the Red Cross and security forces, responded to the scene and treated the injured, while at least ten residents received crisis‑intervention support. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the explosion.
On 30 July 2026 a trailer travelling the Mexico‑Toluca highway suffered a brake failure near Avenida de los Constituyentes in the Álvaro Obregón borough of Mexico City. The trailer toppled onto a Nissan March, crushing the vehicle and trapping its driver and four teenage passengers. All five occupants survived with injuries; four of them are minors. No fatalities were reported. Police and emergency crews secured the area and cleared the road after the incident.
