Explosions and secondary detonations hit Kyiv, Ukraine

Multiple explosions rocked Kyiv in the early hours of Monday, with video footage showing powerful secondary detonations that suggest a weapons depot or similar facility was struck. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko urged residents to shelter as air defenses engaged incoming drones and missiles.

Local officials reported damage to civilian buildings, including a partially collapsed residential block, and the head of the city’s military administration said at least five people were killed. Ukrainian authorities limited information about the strike sites, while Russia’s Defence Ministry has not commented.

The attack follows a pattern of intensive Russian air‑strike campaigns against Ukrainian military and industrial targets, which the Russian General Staff says have weakened Kyiv’s long‑range weapons production. Both sides have blamed each other for recent escalations in the ongoing conflict.
