Belgrade is reshaping its riverfront for Expo 2027. The historic 19th‑century railway bridge over the Sava is being lifted 2.6 m, widened and turned into a pedestrian‑ and cyclist‑only crossing with cafés, viewing platforms and 19 green “kubus” zones.

The Serbian government has drawn more than €122 million from its budget reserve for Expo‑related projects, including the bridge, a new pavilion and other infrastructure, prompting criticism over a lack of transparency.

Austria announced its winning pavilion concept “Join the Flow”, highlighting the Danube as a link between Austria and Serbia.

A contract worth 234.6 million dinars (≈ 2 million USD) was awarded to Delta Hospitality and Aurion Service to operate Expo Village, a residential complex of 1,500 units that will host participants and visitors during the specialized exhibition scheduled for 15 May–15 August 2027, with an expected four‑million visitors.
